On this kind of forum it's quite possible to participate as a guest and never register, but I'd encourage you to register. In the long run it simplifies your own experience, making it easier to come back and participate again. Registering also encourages other participants, as they can see that someone else has been here!
One might even ask, why a forum? Why not just email one another? That's okay, but by using this forum we leave a record for others who might look for the same information. Search engines will note what we're writing and catalog it, making it easier for others to find this information.
Many, these days, don't know how to register, so I took some screenshots to help out.
Here's the first step: Go to the home screen, the one which you first see when you arrive at The Sweet Potato Network . This is what you should see in the top right corner of the screen.
Click on "Register."
The next thing you should see is this. You need to put in an email address for registration. It doesn't have to be your main email address. Just has to be an address from which you can actually retrieve an email. In registering they send you an email to make sure you are a real person and not some internet bot. After registration you'll receive notices at this email when someone likes or comments on something you've posted, though, I'm sure there's a way in the settings to disable this feature.
When you enter an email address and click on "Continue," this is what'll come up next:
There won't be any email in that first slot. You'll need to enter one
Be sure to write your password down and save it, though it's not hard to recover a password with the given email address. (They'll send you a link to that email address.)
Tip: None of the other info has to be actually true. You can supply whatever name, gender and birthday you desire. It's up to you. Just remember: you need to supply a birthday that makes you an adult. When I did a dry run, I got tagged and told that I needed to be at least 16 years old. Below this image you'll find the ubiquitous "Continue." Click on it next. This is what you'll see.
For a forum username you can use anything that someone else hasn't already chosen in boards.net . Go through the terms and policies, check the boxes and click on "Continue."
This is what you'll see.
They'll email you the activation key.
HINT: a lot of times that first e-mail from the forum will go straight to your spam folder. So, if you don't see it within a few minutes, look in the spam or even the trash folder. Copy the key and stick it into the box labeled "Activation key." I believe there's another "Continue" below this. Click on it and you should be good to go!
See you on the forum!
