I started selling slips kind of by accident. Every year I would sprout enough slips to be sure to meet my own needs. Often times, there would be extra. I'd sometimes give those extras to friends. One day, a friend asked if she could purchase an entire tray. I'd already pulled the slips I wanted and the tray was loaded with more. I said, "okay," and we completed the transaction. Later that year she told me that she'd like to purchase slips from me in the coming years. That's when it occurred to me that I could do this and make some extra cash.
Upon investigation I discovered that plant sales, like this require a permit in Oklahoma, where we reside. It was not difficult to obtain, nor was it costly. I pay $25 and my permit allows me to produce and sell more plants than I care to try. Here are some links for Oklahoma residents, wanting to grow and sell sweet potato slips.
