This is a common question yet we haven't addressed it here on the Sweet Potato Network. First of all here's a link to Proboard's own instructions on posting images.
Basically, a person needs to upload the image to some kind of external host and then insert the resulting image link into the post. There's a bit more to it, but that's essentially it.
Some Proboards forums have a built in host for doing this. Here's a screen shot from Green Country Seed Savers, which has this feature. I need to figure out how to add it here!
The host is called imgBB, which is a free hosting service.
With imgBB one creates their own free account and then clicks on "Upload" at the top of the screen. Locating the file they wish to upload, they click on it and it is uploaded to their account. By the way, by poking around in imgBB one can create albums of photos and reuse their links in other posts. Here's a picture of the screen i imgBB when I'm in the process of uploading an image.
Once an image is uploaded this screen will appear.
Be sure you go to the dialog option for "Embed codes" and select what you want to use. This may involve some experimentation, depending on what you want to do. I generally choose "BBCode full linked." I usually resize my images to be between 35 and 100 kilobytes which makes them fit on the screen very nicely. A typical photo taken with my cell phone is more than a hundred times larger than that. Later I'll do a post on how to resize images.
See the link below the dialog for "Embed code?" If you hover the cursor over it, you'll see the option to copy that link. Copy it and then paste it into the post where you want the picture to appear.
There are other image hosting services. Proboard's link at the beginning of this post, mention them. Each has it's own advantages and disadvantages.
Okay, hopefully this helps some of you to get off the ground in posting images. I'd love to see them!

It's ironic that this happens when I write on how to post images! The images I used only appeared as links with no pictures. This was because I selected the wrong link option, choosing "HTML full linked" instead of "BBCode full linked" Here's what appeared on my screen. This was simply my mistake.
Below is what appeared on my screen when I used the wrong kind of link from imgBB. -------------------------------
---------------------------------------------- Sometimes you'll see the same thing when you select an incompatible type of link from imgBB's options.

I'm sorry Nancy. Will see if I can figure out how to import the feature into this forum so you just click on a link and select a file to upload. Been having internet problems here, the past couple days.

Okay, perhaps the solution has been staring us in the face. Look at this image. It's of the screen when I am about to post in this thread. See the "Add attachment" button. If you click on it, you can upload an image from your computer. I think you'll have to click on the image to enlarge it.
This is a "fast and easy" way to insert an image. When you do this, be sure to click on "insert" before closing the dialog. Otherwise, the image will be attached at the end of the post and not visible in the text.
Note: The settings on this forum only allow up to 1 megabyte, maximum size for an image. I'm good with this because larger than that doesn't display very well. Paying websites often have a plugin which automatically resizes an uploaded image to an acceptable size. I'm not aware of any such plugin for Proboards.
My phone camera typically takes photos of 2 to 4 megabytes in size. With almost no exception I resize them before posting.

Here's how I resize images on my computer. I use GIMP, a free program, It's available for every operating system that I know of.
GIMP for Windows
Your phone may have an app for editing and resizing photos.
Also, most phones have a setting for the camera which changes the size of photos the camera takes and stores on the phone. In my opinion, 100 kilobytes (1/10th of a megabyte) is the ideal size to post on a forum. I use images down to 35 kilobytes with good results.
